I have some good news. My PC is back and I have been putting in some time on Ghost of a Tale. Bad news: I lost the progress that I had been putting into Command & Conquer: Tiberium Sun and Dungeons & Dragons: Ruins of Myth Drannor. I'm a little gutted with that because I wanted to complete both games but couldn't add them to the challenge rota, so I put in a little time every now and then where I could. It might be a while before I pick them up again and restart my progress. It's always tough knowing you have to start from scratch after putting a certain amount of time and effort into a game. Command & Conquer: Tiberium Sun wouldn't normally be a big deal to restart, but having to put up with the massive load times is off-putting. Well, I have my hands occupied with Ghost of a Tale anyway. I look forward to writing my thoughts on that game. I'm rather impressed with the level of detail. But that's all I will say on that game for now. Onwards to the console extras!

Name: Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!

Date Completed: 02/10/2024

When it came to this game, I wouldn't have normally sought it out, even though I have played visual novel-style games in the past. The main reason was that the ending was spoilt for me, so I technically knew of the twist.

But the game became available on PSN Monthly, and I thought "Why not?" I may have known about the twist, but I didn't actually know how it builds up to it. And oh boy...

The game uses the tropes of a dating visual novel trope so well. The colors, the characters, the music, the minigames - they are all portrayed so cutely. Even though I knew things were going to take a turn at some point, I had no clue what was in store for me. There was no warm-up to the change. No, Act 1 draws to a conclusion and slam, the tone changes with a very graphic image. So much so, that I had to warn my daughter that if she goes on to the Playstation, to avoid this game even though it looks very cutesy. In the end, I enjoyed the game so much that I ran through 6 playthroughs, just so that I could unlock all the achievements (Thank god for the skip feature). Admittedly, there were some that I found rather annoying, because if it weren't for the internet how in God's name were you meant to discover how to get them?! (For example, one trophy required you to access the in-game desktop and go through certain folders at 02:40 - either am or pm - to locate a document. Once opened, the trophy would pop. The document however would not be present outside that time. And there is no hint to tell you that this document would be there.)

Name: Rayman Legends

Date Completed: 15/10/2024

I actually had this game back on the PS3, but I never got around to playing it. There was always some other title that took priority.

It was a good thing I was craving a platformer-style game and that this one was available on the PS5. I knew, having played previous titles, I would enjoy this one. Though come to think of it, have I actually completed any of the other titles...

I did have a rough start with this game when my daughter accidentally overrode my save file. It's the drawback you face when the game only has one save slot. At least, I had only completed the first world so I hadn't lost much. I mainly focused on the main worlds. While I did unlock the other challenges and some of the Back to Origins worlds, I didn't want to tie myself down on them. Once I completed the main levels/worlds, I was happy to say I satisfied my platformer itch and could move on to another title.

One more month out of the way and we are fast approaching the end of 2024. Feels like I only started this challenge and the blog a couple of months ago, and yet it's almost been a year now since I started the challenge, and the blog maybe half that time. Well, I've still got some ticking in my ticker, so should hopefully keep going for a little longer. Hopefully by the end of next month, though it's going to be crazy busy, I should finish Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
